Our Head Golf Professional, Shaun Mingus, has been in the golf business for over 10 years, 5 of those years here at Avondale. In 2008, he became our head professional and took control of the merchandise in the pro shop. He has been a PGA member for 4 years and has worked at some of the most prestigous clubs in the California Desert.

Shaun grew up in Prior Lake, Minnesota and moved to California after attending college Winona State University. After moving to California, he decided to turn his passion for golf into a career and began working as a pro at Sun City Palm Desert. He ventured through Indian Springs and La Quinta before finding a home here at Avondale.

Personally, Shaun has made a home here in the desert and resides in La Quinta with Danyelle and his two children Connor and Taylor.

Pro Shop Announcements:

As we begin play on our beautiful course, the assistance from our members will immensely help in the maturity process of our young grass.

Please be observant of where you are driving and avoid following tracks of other golf carts.
Please enter the fairway between the two blue topped stakes and then exit between the stakes at the end of the fairway. This process assists in tremendously reducing wear areas around tees and greens.
Please avoid wet areas.
Do not drive or park closer than 50 feet from a green.
Fill your own divot and any other divot near you.
Do not overfill divots. Smooth the mix level with the playing surface.
Please repair your ball mark or any ball mark you can find.
Rakes will be placed in the bunkers, towards the middle with the handle of the rake pointing towards the 150 marker in the center of the fairway.

Pro Shop News:

The 2009/2010 season has come to a close and we would like to thank the entire membership for a wonderful season. We look expect a great summer and look forward to seeing everyone back for the 2010/2011 season!

On May 1, 2009, head professional Shaun Mingus bought and took control the golf shop. A renewed dedication to merchandising and focus on customer needs will be evident from the moment you step in the door.

The Pro Shop, as some of you have seen, has been completely remodeled. There is new flooring throughout, painted walls, new fixtures, and a newly designed office. These changes are a tremendous upgrade and we are very pleased with the result. If you haven't been in to see it yet, you are in for a nice surprise.

Merchandising the Pro Shop was a primary concern. We took a different approach this year in regard to buying. There will be more vendors to choose from, just in smaller quantities. The ladies' will have classics such as Tail, EP Pro, Annika, and Sport Haley, but with the addition of Nike and Adidas. Men will have Fairway & Green, Adidas, and Greg Norman with Nike and House of Carrington added. Comments and Suggestions for buying are welcome and encouraged. Please note that buying one in every size is very difficult and costly. If you see something that you may like to have, special orders are available.
